Common fungal disease causing white powdery coating on vegetables caused by Erysiphe cichoracearum, Podosphaera xanthii during October-March.
Description
Powdery mildew affects many kitchen garden crops including cucumbers, pumpkins, peas, and beans. Unlike most fungal diseases, it thrives in dry conditions with moderate temperatures and high humidity. The fungus grows on leaf surfaces, forming white powdery masses of spores. Severely infected plants show reduced vigor, poor fruit development, and premature senescence.
